The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating Joe Kent over allegations of leaking classified information, according to multiple reports.

Sources indicate that the investigation began before Kent’s resignation as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center earlier this week.

Kent stepped down on Tuesday, citing his opposition to the ongoing U.S. military campaign involving Iran, which he argued was not justified by an imminent threat.

Officials familiar with the matter say details of the FBI probe remain unclear, and no formal charges have been announced.

Kent, a former Green Beret and CIA officer, had been a key figure in U.S. counterterrorism policy since his appointment in 2025, but his resignation and criticism of the war have sparked political debate in Washington.
