Tinubu Seeks Stronger UK–Nigeria Trade Ties Amid Economic Reforms
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for deeper economic cooperation between Nigeria and the United Kingdom during talks with British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.
Speaking during the meeting, Tinubu emphasised the need to strengthen existing trade agreements and expand bilateral economic relations between both countries.
“We need to nurture the trade agreement, stimulate more economic relationships that will build our two nations, and Nigeria is currently going through a very strong reform of the economy,” the president said.
Tinubu noted that his administration is implementing reforms aimed at stabilising and growing Nigeria’s economy, while positioning the country as an attractive destination for foreign investment.
The discussions come amid ongoing efforts by Nigeria to deepen international partnerships and drive economic recovery through trade, investment, and policy reforms.
Analysts say stronger UK–Nigeria economic ties could boost trade volumes, support job creation, and enhance cooperation across key sectors including finance, energy, and infrastructure.See more, details. .
