Troops of the 181 Amphibious Battalion, in collaboration with the Tantita security operatives, on Wednesday intercepted 22 jerrycans of suspected illegally refined automotive gas oil (AGO) estimated at 660 litres in a vehicle at Edjekuta Community, Ughelli North LGA of Delta State.

Two occupants of the vehicle were apprehended during the operation.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the product was purchased from heavy-duty truck drivers involved in the construction of the Ewu–Ogoda link bridge in Ughelli South LGA.

The suspects and the recovered AGO are currently in custody, while samples of the product have been sent for laboratory tests to ascertain its viscosity for further action.
