Army Troops Destroy Terrorist Hideouts, Recover Arms In Bauchi Forest Operation

Troops of Operation Safe Haven have destroyed suspected terrorist hideouts and recovered arms during a fighting patrol in Yankari forest and surrounding areas of Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 5:30 p.m. on March 20 by troops of 33 Artillery Brigade as part of ongoing efforts to clear criminal elements from the area.

The sources said the troops conducted a sweep of the forest and identified several hideouts and staging areas used by suspected terrorists.

“During the operation, troops successfully destroyed the identified hideouts and neutralised the threat within the general area,” the source said.

Items recovered during the operation include two Dane guns.

The sources added that the operation was aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and restoring security in the forested areas of the state.
