All Suspects Arrested Over Viral Bullying Incident at Igbinedion Education Centre, Edo Police Confirm

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of all suspects linked to the bullying incident at Igbinedion Education Centre, following public outrage triggered by a viral video showing a student being br¥tally assaulted by fellow students.

The widely circulated footage showed the victim being flogged, punched, kicked in the stomach, and repeatedly stamped on the head and ribs, sparking widespread concern among residents and social media users.

In response, the school management expelled several students identified as participants in the violent attack.

In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, police said the arrests followed a thorough investigation and that all suspects would be charged before the family court in accordance with laws guiding juvenile justice and child protection.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident began on March 5, 2026, after two 14-year-old female students had a disagreement with another student who allegedly insulted their late father, saying, “Ogun kill your papa.” Angered by the remark, the girls reportedly attacked the student after school hours.

During the confrontation, a parent who came to pick up her son attempted to intervene but was allegedly attacked by the girls, who also dragged her clothes. The school authorities later intervened and expelled the students for violent misconduct.

Police added that a retaliatory incident occurred the following day, March 6, when the male student whose mother had earlier been assaulted attacked the victim captured in the viral video(watch the video clips) in what investigators described as revenge.

The victim was identified as the brother of the girls accused of attacking the woman, while another student recorded and shared the incident online.See more, details. .
