Real Christians are horrified but it’s crickets from the Evangelicals…

“So I’m tying Homeland Security into voter identification with picture and proof of citizenship in order to vote,” Trunp said during a speech in Memphis. “So it should be part of the Homeland Security bill. And I’m requesting that the Republican senators do that immediately.”

“You don’t have to take a fast vote,” he continued. “Don’t worry about Easter going home. Make this one for Jesus, okay? Make this one for Jesus. That’s what I tell them. That would be a damn good thing.”

“The most important part of Homeland Security is voter ID and proof of citizenship,” Trump added. “Nobody can vote on Homeland Security without voter ID or proof of citizenship. And you can’t have Homeland Security without voter ID or proof of citizenship. So we’re tying them together.”

As airports descend into chaos over Trump’s failure to pass a DHS spending bill, he’s tying that legislation to the Orwellianly named SAVE America Act, which is designed to make it harder to vote. Republicans hope that suppressing the vote will allow them to actually stand a chance in our elections despite their cratering popularity.

It has nothing to do with countering so-called mass voter fraud, as study after study has concluded that no such problem exists. This is about entrenching MAGA minoritarian rule.

At the same time that they’re pushing for voter ID laws, Republicans are working to shut down many driver’s license offices so that it will be near impossible to get ID cards in some areas when the time comes. Ultimately, they only want straight, white Republicans to be able to vote.

Trump’s suggestion that Jesus Christ would support this bill is outrageous, but unsurprising from a man who views the Christian religion as a convenient tool to be cynically deployed for political ends. All indications are that this man doesn’t believe in God at all.See full, details. .
