Wike Declares PDP Crisis Over, Opens Door For Returnees

Speaking during his monthly media parley in Abuja on Friday, Wike said the internal disputes that followed the party’s recent national convention had been put behind it, stressing that the focus had shifted to reconciliation and rebuilding.

“As far as I’m concerned, the convention has come and gone. People are trooping in. The door is open. Yes, we have had crisis. Now the crisis is over. Do we still have to shut our doors? No. Certainly not,” he said.

He disclosed that several former members who had left the party had already indicated interest in returning, noting that the political atmosphere within the PDP was becoming more conducive for collaboration.

Wike likened politics to a game of football rather than a “fight to finish”, warning against the do-or-die approach often associated with political contests, which he said hinders reconciliation.

“Politics is not a fight to finish. It’s like a game. If you see it as do or die, it becomes difficult to reconcile. For us, it’s not that way,” he added.

The former Rivers State governor urged aggrieved members to set aside personal differences and work collectively to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

He also cautioned aspiring candidates that political relevance requires active participation and grassroots engagement, not merely holding titles.

“There’s no doubt that we have a lot of work to do, but what is important is that we have put the convention behind us,” Wike said.See more, details. .
