The government of Iran has indicated a willingness to halt military operations, provided attacks against its territory are stopped, according to a statement attributed to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

In the statement dated April 7, 2026, and reportedly issued in Tehran, the minister expressed appreciation to Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s military leadership for their efforts toward de-escalating tensions in the region.

The statement suggested that recent diplomatic engagements—including proposals linked to the United States and a separate framework attributed to Iran—may serve as a basis for negotiations.

According to the document, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council is considering a conditional pause in its “defensive operations” if hostilities against the country cease.
