Popular Nollywood actor Femi Branch has come under fire following allegations of physical assault against an assistant director during a film production in Lagos.
The incident, which unfolded on set earlier this week, reportedly caused a major disruption in filming and sparked a protest among crew members.
In a video that surfaced online on Saturday, crew members were seen confronting the 55-year-old actor and demanding a formal apology before production could resume.
Narrating the ordeal, the alleged victim — an assistant director on the project — recounted how the clash began:
“I was knocking on the door for it to be opened because the Director of Photography (DP) needed to check the frame. Femi Branch then shouted that they were filming, and I responded by asking what they were filming when the DP and First AD were still inside.”
According to the victim, the situation escalated quickly when the actor verbally insulted him, saying his “head is incorrect.” The assistant director replied, asserting his authority to pause filming if necessary — a statement that allegedly provoked Branch to physically strike him.
“As he stormed inside shouting, I made it clear he couldn’t intimidate me. That’s when he hit me,” he said.
The confrontation reportedly left the crew in shock. In solidarity, members of the production team locked the gates of the location to protest the actor’s alleged actions.
Though the production later moved to a different location — the Lekki Conservation Centre — tensions remained high. When Branch arrived, crew members once again asked him to apologise. He reportedly refused and attempted to leave, prompting the crew to lock the gate to prevent his exit.
