NDLEA Intercepts N7.8bn Opioids, Arrests Notorious Drug Kingpin
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking, seizing opioids and other drugs worth over N7.8 billion and arresting a notorious kingpin.
NDLEA arrested a drug kingpin, Sunday Ibigide, after a 3-year manhunt.
He was caught in Delta State with 138kg of skunk.
Operatives intercepted 875,000 bottles of codeine at Onne Port.
They also seized N3.5 million tramadol pills worth N1.7 billion.
In Enugu, over 37,000kg of cannabis was destroyed.
A total of over 538,000 pills of opioids were recovered nationwide.
Drug arrests were also made in Kaduna, Lagos, Kano, and other states.
The seizures and arrests demonstrate the NDLEA’s widespread and effective operations.
