JUST-IN: Army Alerts Maiduguri Residents on Routine Artillery Exercise

The Nigerian Army has urged residents of Maiduguri and neighbouring communities not to panic over the sound of heavy artillery fire expected in parts of the city tonight Friday.
In a statement issued to journalists, the Army explained that the exercise is a controlled artillery fire mission being conducted from the Njimtilo axis towards Jajel.
It assured that the operation poses no threat to residents, urging the public to go about their normal activities without fear.
“This is a routine military exercise. The loud sounds should not cause panic, as there is no danger to lives or property,” the statement read in part.
The Army further emphasized its commitment to the safety of the people while carrying out operations designed to strengthen national security.
