Oil States Derivation Soars in 2025: N620bn Distributed in 5 Months As Delta Tops List

Significant Surge in Derivation Funds
Oil-producing states in Nigeria received a total of ₦620.23 billion in derivation allocations between January and May 2025 — more than double the ₦308.19 billion disbursed during the same period in 2024, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) .
Breakdown of Allocations by State
The top beneficiaries were:
1. Delta – ₦185.16 billion
2. Bayelsa – ₦130.21 billion
3. Akwa Ibom – ₦124.79 billion
4. Rivers – ₦114.06 billion
5. Edo – ₦18.60 billion
