Putin, speaking on Wednesday, said Russia is prepared to host negotiations “without preconditions” to end the ongoing war, which has now entered its third year with no resolution in sight.

“I extend an invitation to President Zelensky to come to Moscow for peace talks. Russia guarantees his security and safe return,” Putin said, framing the move as a gesture to break the deadlock.

Kyiv has yet to respond to the invitation. Ukrainian officials have previously maintained that peace negotiations can only occur if Russia withdraws its troops from occupied territories.
