This followed the summons of El-Rufai, along with six senior members of the African Democratic Congress, by the police for questioning over allegations relating to criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.

The others summoned included Bashir Sa’idu; Jafaru Sani; Ubaidullah Mohammed (a.k.a. “30”); Nasiru Maikano; Aminu Abita and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini (a.k.a. “Mikiya”).

However, while MyNigeria could not confirm if El-Rufai has honoured the summons, his Media Adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, released a petition against the police, issued by El-Rufai.

The petition is expected to assist the Police Service Commission in discharging its functions under the Constitution and section 6(1)(a) to (e) of the Commission’s enabling Act of 2001.

El-Rufai said, “I submit this petition with a profound sense of responsibility as a citizen of Nigeria and a public servant who has served our nation at national and subnational levels, including dedicating eight years to improving Kaduna State for all its residents. I am motivated by concern for the Nigerian Police Force, which, despite its challenges. remains the primary law enforcement institution in the country.
