In May 2025, Qatar also gifted Trump a custom Boeing 747-8, worth over $400 million, intended for use as Air Force One. The gesture was widely viewed as a symbol of Doha’s bid to deepen ties with Washington.

Despite these commitments, Trump gave a green light to Israeli operations that struck the Qatari capital, targeting Hamas leaders during ceasefire talks. The move has been condemned in Doha as “state terrorism” and described by Qatari officials as a betrayal of trust.
