JUST-IN: Civil Defence Corps Arrest 28-year-old Fraudster In Adamawa

The command’s Spokesperson, Mr Nyako Baba, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Yola, said the suspect would face prosecution on conclusion of investigations.

Baba said operatives of the command arrested the suspect on Sept. 2 in Timbokum village, Ganye Local Government Area, following a report at the Corps’ divisional office in Mubi.

He quoted the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Idris Bande, as saying that the suspect had allegedly defrauded at least nine individuals of ₦9.08 million.

He noted that the suspect ” promises his unspecting victims political appointments, job opportunities, and foreign travel arrangements.”

Bande, however, added that the suspect refunded to some of his victims, N1.1 million during preliminary investigations.

“Records show that the suspect obtained contacts of prominent personalities in the state, which he used to lure his victims with attractive but fake offers,” Bande said.
