State Commandant, Umar Mohammed made the call at a Security Summit in Ilorin the state capital, organized in collaboration with the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN). The summit themed “The Role of Private Security Guards in Crime Prevention and Intelligence Gathering” highlighted the growing threat of banditry, kidnapping, cultism, and cybercrime, stressing that conventional agencies cannot tackle them alone.

Once known for its peace, Kwara has in recent times faced insecurity challenges. The NSCDC Commandant Umar Mohammed maintained that the state’s 62 licensed private security firms, if well-regulated and integrated, can provide vital intelligence and support to security agencies in protecting lives and property.

Chairman of ALPSPN in the state, Samuel Bola, acknowledged challenges in the sector but assured of ongoing efforts to eliminate quack operators.

For his part, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Security, Muyeeden Aliyu, pledged continued government support to security operations.
