The Bayero University Kano Alumni Association (BUKAA), FCT Chapter, successfully concluded its highly anticipated Football and Aerobics event yesterday, Saturday, September 13th, at the scenic Jabi Lakeside. The gathering served as a powerful demonstration to the enduring spirit and camaraderie among Bukites in the nation’s capital.
The event, which kicked off at 9:00 a.m., was a vibrant blend of physical activity and social reconnection. Alumni of all generations, fondly referred to in a post-event address as “Oracles,” “Ancestors,” “Elders,” and the younger “Gen Z and Gen Alpha,” came together for a morning of aerobics, a football training match, and other activities like a Tug of War and a barbecue stand.
In a heartfelt message following the event, the Chairman of BUKAA FCT Chapter, Alhassan Mohammed, celebrated the overwhelming turnout and collective effort. “An event is only as successful as the people who participate—and your presence made it outstanding,” he stated. He emphasized that the chapter is thriving due to the “energy, unity, and continued support” of its members.
The Chairman extended profound gratitude to the event’s sponsors, whose financial backing was crucial to its execution. He also paid special tribute to the team of dedicated volunteers who managed key activities, from distributing suya to coordinating games, ensuring the event ran smoothly.
The success of the day was attributed to the meticulous planning by the Organizing Committee, chaired by the Chapter’s Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Umar Aliyu, with support from Aliyu Jentle and Aminu Idris. Commendation also goes to other executive members: Hajiya Jamila Ahmed, Dr. Omoh Atsenokhai, Salma Mohammed, Aminu KT, Dr. Hussain Yahaya and Barr. Al-Bashir Likko for their unwavering support.
The event successfully achieved its dual goals of promoting physical wellness and strengthening the bonds of the alumni community, creating new memories against the relaxing backdrop of Jabi Lake.
Looking ahead, the Chairman announced the chapter’s next initiative: a Medical Outreach and Visit to the Elderly, scheduled for October 2025. The BUKAA FCT Chapter encourages all alumni to keep the momentum going and participate in future community-building events.
