The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) FCT Command has arrested 254 traffic violators and secured 245 convictions through Mobile Court sittings in Abuja.
According to a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the sittings were held between 8th and 12th September 2025 at the Nyanya Unit Command, and on 10th September 2025 at the Karu Unit Command.
The special operation, carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigerian Army Brigade of Guards, specifically targeted traffic indiscipline along the busy Abuja–Nyanya corridor, a notorious hotspot for route violations, overloading, and reckless driving.
Out of the 254 offenders arraigned for 563 traffic-related offences, 245 were convicted while nine were discharged after due consideration by the court.
The offences covered a broad spectrum, including:
Seatbelt violation – 129 cases
Driver’s licence violation – 122 cases
Overloading – 111 cases
Route violation – 63 cases
Other violations recorded were dangerous driving, traffic light violation, number plate infraction, wrongful overtaking, use of phone while driving, caution sign violation, and impersonation.
The sittings according to the PRO also exposed seven notorious offenders — Shaab Murtala, Abel Sunday, Sunday Salasi, Benjamin Augustine, Ekem Charles, Hussaini Kabir, and Samsudeen Abdullahi, who were found guilty of multiple offences including dangerous driving, impersonation, overloading, driver’s licence violation, use of phone while driving, and route violation.
Their sentences ranged from three hours to five days of community service, depending on the gravity of their offences.
Hussaini Kabir, who not only committed traffic violations but also impersonated a military officer, was sentenced to five days of community service at Mambilla Barracks.
The Mobile Court sessions were presided over by Her Worship Maryam Muazu Alhaji and His Worship Huzaifa Maccido, with CRC Cindy Talabi, the FCT Sector Legal Officer, serving as the prosecuting counsel.

The FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended the FCT Command for sustaining the special intervention, noting that the sittings were held at his instance as part of a national strategy to curb traffic indiscipline.
He disclosed that similar exercises would be extended to all states of the federation to deter habitual violators, strengthen enforcement, and promote safer roads nationwide.
“The FRSC will not relent in prosecuting offenders to safeguard lives and restore sanity on Nigerian roads. Motorists must desist from dangerous driving, route violation, overloading, and all forms of recklessness,” Mohammed warned.
