Former Edo Governor Aspirant, Akpata Denies Defection Plans to APC
Ondopress News reports that Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the 2024 Edo State governorship election, has refuted claims suggesting that he is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akpata, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), described the reports as unfounded and misleading.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the Labour Party and its ideals, stressing that he remains committed to the party’s vision of offering credible alternatives in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Political observers note that Akpata’s clarification comes amid heightened speculation over alignments and realignments within Edo politics ahead of future elections.
