BREAKING: Strengthening Security Along Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway
Following an on-site assessment, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command , CP Jimoh Moshood announced enhanced security measures along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway.
According to the CP, immediately the road was opened in the first week of December 2025, the Command deployed 50 patrol vehicles to secure the corridor. Since then, no incidents of car snatching, robbery, or kidnapping have been recorded on the highway.

He noted, however, that recent intelligence revealed attempts by vandals to tamper with newly installed road facilities. Acting on concerns raised by the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, Engr. Oluremi Dare of the Federal Ministry of Works (FMWNIG), the Police Command has now launched a dedicated anti-crime patrol operation along the route.
The initiative comprises four patrol teams operating round-the-clock (24/7) to safeguard infrastructure and ensure continuous safety for road users. Additional patrol vehicles have also been deployed to reinforce the initial 50 vehicles stationed on the highway in December 2025.
The Commissioner emphasised that the primary objective of the operation is to prevent vandalism, protect public assets, and sustain the safe environment already established on the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway.
