Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has alleged that the Minister of Works, David Umahi, used officers of the Nigeria Police Force at the FCT Command in Abuja to intimidate a woman over a long-standing financial dispute.

In a statement shared via his verified X page on Wednesday, Sowore claimed he confronted Umahi inside a conference room at the FCT Police Command, where, according to him, police operatives had arranged a meeting involving a woman identified as TracyNither Nicolas Ohiri.

Sowore alleged that the woman was arrested in Lagos on accusations of cyberbullying, transported to Abuja, and detained.

He stated that her alleged offence was publicly accusing the minister of owing her N250 million for over 12 years — a matter he described as a civil dispute rather than a criminal case.

According to Sowore, the police escalated the issue and facilitated a meeting during which Umahi allegedly threatened and intimidated the woman within the police facility.

He further claimed that upon his arrival, the meeting was abruptly ended and the minister left the premises.

Sowore also alleged that despite efforts to secure her release, police authorities initially refused to grant bail.
