Saudi Arabia Confirms Eid on Friday After Shawwal Crescent Not Sighted

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have announced that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal 1447 was not sighted, confirming that the holy month of Ramadan will complete a full 30 days.

As a result, the celebration of Eid al-Fitr will take place on Friday.

The announcement follows traditional moon-sighting procedures used across many Muslim countries to determine the end of Ramadan and the commencement of Shawwal.
