A statement by the permanent secretary of the establishment, Zainab Muhammad Ago, for the Head of Service, indicates that the approval followed a joint request by the Union Bodies of the NUJ and RATTAWU pursuance of their Weigh-in Allowance that applies to all workers working in Radio and Television, as well as the Council for Arts and Culture sector.

The letter was directed to the approval of the Head of Service for the implementation of the same as follows:-
35% of the basic salary for Journalists and 20% of basic salary for Non-journalists

It discloses that the two (2) Unions were enjoying the Weigh-in allowance before the implementation of the N70,000 Minimum Wage.

The statement to direct the Ministry of Finance toImplement the said allowance commensurate.
