U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions with Iran over the critical waterway.

In a strongly worded statement, Trump accused Iran of failing to honor commitments to reopen the strait, blaming Tehran for global disruptions affecting shipping and energy markets.

He alleged that Iran may have deployed naval mines in the area, creating risks for international vessels, despite also claiming that much of Iran’s naval capacity had already been destroyed.
