“I can’t Play Some Roles Anymore.” Kola Oyewo Speaks On Career Setbacks
Veteran Nollywood Actor Kola Oyewo has speaks on career setbacks, after he was diagnosed of prostate cancer.
In the interview he said: “Before I could walk up and down, if I was called for a role, I would always show up and give my best.”
“But this illness has caused a major setback in my profession, I can no longer play certain roles. Sickness weakens one’s strength, even more as age advances. Though I know some people remain strong even in their 80s, I still thank God for my life.”
“I was given a referral note at the hospital to go to Akure, but I became confused about who would take care of me there. So I decided to return home instead and drove back.”
“When I got home, I told my wife about the referral but explained that I chose to come back. I then visited our family doctor who started my treatment.”
“The illness started with frequent urination; I couldn’t sleep at night. The urge to urinate would come suddenly and before I could get to the toilet, it would have leaked into my clothes.”
