Troops under Operation Safe Haven (OPEP), in collaboration with local vigilantes, have recovered the corpse of a missing herder and 32 cattle during a search and rescue operation in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 7:00 a.m. on April 13 following a report on the disappearance of the herder in Ariri and Kwasha villages.

According to the sources, troops carried out a search-and-rescue mission across the affected areas, leading to the discovery of the herder’s corpse.

They added that 32 cattle were recovered alive during the operation, while three others were found dead.

The sources disclosed that the corpse and recovered cattle were handed over to leaders of the herders in the area for further necessary action.
