Kenya’s President, William Ruto, has sparked reactions after comments made during his speech at the Business Insider Africa summit.

His remarks came in response to earlier statements linked to Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, who had spoken on Nigeria’s economic situation while drawing comparisons with other African countries, including Kenya. Tinubu had said:

“The fuel price is biting hard, but look around, let us thank God together that you are better off. Listen to them in Kenya and other African countries, what they are going through.”

Responding, Ruto defended Kenya’s education system and communication standards, stating: “We speak some of the best english in the world. Our education and English is good compared to Nigerians that you will need a translator.”
