2026 UTME: Police Promise Safe, Secure UTME For Candidates In Kano

The Kano State Police Command has assured candidates of a safe and secure environment for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), saying adequate security arrangements have been put in place across the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command said the measures are aimed at ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free exercise at all designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

The examination, organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is scheduled to hold in Kano from April 15 to April 26, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said the Command is fully prepared to protect lives and property before, during, and after the examination.

“We have concluded adequate security deployments to ensure a peaceful, secure, and hitch-free conduct of the UTME across all CBT centres,” he said.

He explained that the Command has deployed a large number of police officers, including tactical teams and undercover operatives, to examination centres and other strategic locations across the state.

According to him, the deployment will cover access control, crowd management, and rapid response to any emergency.

“We have also activated intelligence-led surveillance and intensified patrols on routes leading to CBT centres, motor parks, and other public places to deter criminal activities,” Bakori added.

The police boss said officers from the traffic unit have also been mobilised to manage traffic around examination centres to ensure candidates arrive on time.

He noted that the Command is working closely with other security agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Department of State Services, to ensure coordinated security throughout the examination period.

Bakori warned individuals planning to disrupt the exercise to stay away.

The Command stressed that it will deal decisively with anyone involved in malpractice, impersonation, or any breach of peace.

Candidates were advised to arrive early at their centres, obey instructions from officials, and avoid bringing prohibited items such as electronic devices into the examination halls.

The Command also urged parents and members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security operatives.
