
Two individuals have died and two others are receiving treatment following a suspected case of food poisoning during a film production in Works Layout, near Nwaosu Street in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, April 18, around 5:00 a.m., during a movie shoot involving members of the Nigeria Actors Guild. The affected individuals were reportedly served food and drinks during the production.
Shortly after consumption, two members — identified as Monday Israel and Evans Sampson — collapsed and were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri. Medical personnel confirmed both men dead on arrival.
The bodies have since been deposited at the FMC mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while two other crew members affected by the same meal are currently undergoing treatment.
Police authorities have confirmed that several suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. A full investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the poisoning and whether it was deliberate.
Authorities are urging the public to remain calm as forensic analysis and toxicology reports are expected to provide more clarity in the coming days.. CONTINUE READING>
