BREAKING: MFM Suspends Vigils, Limits Services to 8pm Nationwide Over Rising Security Concerns

The directive was contained in an internal memo dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the Director of Administration at the church’s international headquarters in Lagos, Temitope A. Olawale.

According to the church, the decision was taken to ensure the safety and well-being of members amid the current security situation nationwide.

The memo stated that all services, meetings, and related activities must now conclude no later than 8:00 pm. It also emphasized that vigils and overnight prayer sessions have been suspended indefinitely.

It further explained that where necessary, vigils may be converted into evening programmes, but must still end on or before 8:00 pm.

The church described the measures as precautionary and compulsory across all levels of the ministry.

β€œThese measures are purely precautionary and are intended to safeguard the lives and well-being of our members in the face of the current security situation in the country. All MFM ministers, groups, and departments are to strictly comply with this directive,” the memo added.

The notice was distributed to Principal Regional Overseers, Senior Regional Overseers, Mega Regional Overseers, zonal pastors, and branch pastors for immediate enforcement. The directive comes amid increasing insecurity concerns in parts of Nigeria, including cases of banditry, k+dn@pping, and att@cks on rural communities.
