US Court Jails Ex-NNPC General Manager Paulinus Okoronkwo for 87 Months Over $2.1 Million Bribe from Chinese Oil Firm
A United States district court has sentenced Paulinus Okoronkwo, a Nigerian American and former General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), to 87 months in prison.
Okoronkwo was convicted for his role in receiving a $2.1 million bribe from Addax Petroleum, a subsidiary of the Chinese state-owned oil and gas conglomerate Sinopec.
The sentencing underscores the long arm of international anti-corruption enforcement and highlights the ongoing legal consequences for individuals involved in bribery schemes within the global oil industry.
