NEW: Nasarawa Commences Harvest Of Over 100,000 Stocked Fingerlings

In a bid to enhance commercial activities among fish farmers in the state, the Nasarawa State Government has commenced the harvest of over 100, 000 fingerings earlier stocked in the Doma Dam in Doma Local Government Area of the state.

The harvest exercise which was supervised by the director – general of State Human Capital Development Agency, Habiba Balarabe Suleiman attracted stakeholders from the sub sector.

The director general further explained that the project is being implemented in two phases: the stocking of the main water body, and capacity building for communities in modern fish farming techniques while the government has also established fish ponds within communities, where over 3000 fish have been stocked.

In his address, the chairman of the Nasarawa State Fishery Cooperative Federation of Nigeria, Bashir Muhammad, commended the state government for the initiative and cautioned fishermen against engaging in harmful fishing practices.Continue Your, Reading. .
