Trump Says Iran ‘Has No Cards,’ Warns of Pressure Over Hormuz
U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his rhetoric against Iran, claiming the country lacks leverage beyond what he described as short-term disruption of global shipping routes.
In a statement, Trump said Iran’s only bargaining tool is what he called “extortion of the world” through control of international waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz.
“The Iranians don’t seem to realize they have no cards… The only reason they are alive today is to negotiate,” he said.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil transit route that has seen disruptions affecting global energy markets.
