Troops Rescue 12 Kidnapped Victims In Plateau–Taraba Forests

Troops have rescued 12 kidnapped victims during a fighting patrol in forest areas spanning Plateau and Taraba states.

Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 6:00 a.m. on April 15, 2026, by troops of a Combat Support Infantry Battalion within the Dajin Madam and Kumbodoro forests.

According to the sources, the troops intercepted the victims during the patrol, after they reportedly escaped from captivity.

The rescued individuals told operatives that they had fled from their captors and were attempting to find safety when they encountered the troops.

The victims are currently in custody for profiling and further necessary action, while security operations continue in the area to track down the perpetrators and prevent further incidents.
