A shooting scare disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after an armed suspect was intercepted at the venue, prompting a swift security response.

According to DC Police Chief Jeffrey Carroll, the suspect was heavily armed, carrying a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives at the time of the incident.

Authorities identified the suspect as 31-year-old teacher Cole Allen from Torrance, California.

Preliminary findings suggest that Allen may have been a guest at the Hilton hotel where the high-profile event was being held.

Witness accounts indicate that the suspect emerged from a “makeshift room” located near the entrance of the venue.

The area reportedly lacked adequate security and was being used to store bar carts. A volunteer present at the event told the New York Post that the suspect retrieved a weapon from a bag inside the room.
