JUST-IN: Italian Men Cannot Resist Edo and Akwa Ibom Girls — Sen. Adams Oshiomhole Tells Italian Ambassador’s Shocking Remark
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has recounted a conversation with an Italian ambassador while discussing human trafficking and the need to tackle both the demand and supply sides of the problem.
Speaking during Wednesday’s Senate meeting, Oshiomhole said, “I said deal with the demand side so I can deal with the supply side.”
He further stated that the ambassador replied, “Your Excellency, I’m sorry, Italian people cannot resist Edo girls.”
Reacting to the response, Oshiomhole said, “If they cannot resist, they need the reorientation. Let them deal with Italian people and not Edo people. I don’t know what skill people have.”
He said the ambassador also made a point about the relationship between demand and supply, stating that “in history, without the mind there can be no supply. So the Italian government should do what ever they can to discourage their men or others”
He further stated, “These people didn’t go through Libya. They went through Italian embassy.”
He added that if the Italian government could address the demand side, the Edo State Government and, as he believed, the Akwa Ibom State Government could tackle the supply side.
Explaining his position, Oshiomhole said, “The law of economics is that without demand there can be no supply. But when demand is strong, supply will find its way.”
He concluded by describing the issue as a national concern, stressing the importance of addressing both sides of the problem.
