French President ‘Macron Warns Turkey — France Vows To Defend Greece.
Macron in Athens: France pledges to stand with Greece if Turkey threatens its sovereignty.
“If Turkey threatened Greece, we would be here. We would be present. Look at what we did that difficult summer [2020], look at our stance in Cyprus. For me, this is the true definition of friendship. This is exactly what the Greek-French alliance expresses.
Alliance and friendship are not complex concepts; they are something very simple: when the critical moment comes, you don’t wonder what you will do the next day. You already know what you have to do. If sovereignty is threatened, know that we will be here.”
This strengthens Greece’s position, boosts European defense cooperation outside full NATO consensus, and signals France’s ambition for strategic autonomy in the Mediterranean.
