ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark Warns Against APC’s Push Toward One-Party Domination

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Senator David Mark, has issued a strong warning over what he described as a dangerous attempt to weaken Nigeria’s opposition and shrink the democratic space.

Speaking at the National Opposition Summit in Ibadan, Mark said the future of Nigeria’s democracy depends on the courage of opposition parties to unite, resist intimidation, and defend the people’s right to freely choose their leaders.

According to him, no democracy can survive when institutions meant to protect the ballot begin to appear compromised or politically pressured.

Mark accused the APC-led government of creating conditions that make it increasingly difficult for opposition parties to operate freely, warning that Nigeria must not be allowed to slide into a one-party state.

He stressed that democracy thrives only when citizens have real choices, credible alternatives, and institutions that act without fear or favour.

For the ADC, the message is clear: this is no longer the time for fragmented resistance.
