INEC Releases 2027 Presidential Candidates’ List as Tinubu, Atiku and Obi Feature
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the particulars and credentials of presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general election.
The publication includes prominent political figures such as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, alongside candidates fielded by other registered political parties.
Recent reports on the INEC publication put the number of presidential candidates at 19, contrary to an earlier list circulating online which claimed that the commission had released 18 candidates.
Among the major presidential tickets listed are:
APC: Bola Ahmed Tinubu / Kashim Shettima
ADC: Atiku Abubakar / Rotimi Amaechi
NDC: Peter Obi / Rabiu Kwankwaso
AAC: Omoyele Sowore / Haruna Garba Magashi
The development marks another significant stage in preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with political parties and their candidates expected to intensify their campaigns ahead of the poll.
INEC had earlier fixed February 20, 2027, for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, according to its published timetable.
The electoral commission’s official records also confirm that the political parties referenced in the circulating list, including APC, ADC, AAC, AA, ADP, APP, APM, BP and others, are among parties registered/listed by INEC.
However, because candidate particulars can be affected by court orders, corrections or other electoral processes, readers are advised to rely on INEC’s official publication for the definitive candidate list.
