Hijab Controversy Deepens at UI International School as Students Defy Court Ban

Despite the Court of Appeal ruling on Friday that overturned a previous judgment permitting hijab use, some female Muslim students of the International School, University of Ibadan (ISI), resumed classes on Monday wearing their hijabs .

The appellate court, in a split decision of two to one, had classified ISI as a private institution and held that the Supreme Court’s decision allowing hijab in public schools does not apply to it.
