He died at the age of 72. The actress confirmed the heartbreaking news on August 29, 2025, via Instagram, where she posted his picture alongside a tribute.

Joke Silva wrote on her Instagram: “With acceptance of God’s Sovereign will …we announce the call to Glory of my dear brother John Olabiyi Silva …long John Silva…Bros B…Uncle B…. my easy go lucky brother. Rest in peace. January 22nd 1953-August 29th, 2025.”

The veteran actress becomes the latest movie star to suffer a painful loss this week.
