VIDEO: 10-Year-Old Arugba Carries Sacred Calabash for First Time at Osun-Osogbo Festival
A 10-year-old girl, Princess Alimot Moredeke Ajoke Osunbunmi, has carried the sacred calabash for the first time during the annual Osun-Osogbo Festival procession to the Osun Sacred Grove.
Princess Alimot, the current Arugba of the festival, was unable to carry the calabash during the 2025 edition due to her young age. This year’s procession marks a significant milestone in her tenure.
She was selected through traditional Ifa divination in March 2025 to succeed Osuntomi Ewatomi, who held the revered position for about 12 years before her marriage ended her tenure.
