The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported the d+ath of a suspected vandal whose body was discovered beneath a collapsed transmission tower in Delta State.

According to TCN, the incident occurred along the 330kV Ughelli-Benin transmission line after the line tripped following an earth fault. The fault prompted an intensive patrol by the Delta Sub-Region Lines Maintenance Department, which traced the problem to Tower 101.

Patrolmen reportedly found the suspected vandal’s corpse trapped and crushed among the collapsed tower members.

TCN said further inspection revealed that Tower 101 on the adjacent Ughelli-Sapele 330kV transmission line had also been seriously vandalised, although the structure remained standing at the time of the report.
