A third suspect linked to the murder of a couple at Kruger National Park has been arrested following coordinated regional law enforcement efforts. Acting National Commissioner of SAPS, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, commended the cooperation between SAPS, SANPARKS, SERNIC of Mozambique, and the Zimbabwe Republic Police in the breakthrough.

The first two suspects were arrested in Mozambique on 1 and 2 June 2026, during which the victims’ vehicle was also recovered. The third suspect, a 26-year-old Mozambican national identified as Macandze Lionel da Marta, evaded arrest and fled into Zimbabwe, where he was later tracked down and apprehended by authorities.

Lieutenant General Dimpane highlighted the success of cross-border policing efforts while speaking at the 31st SARPCCO Chiefs of Police Meeting in Malawi. She said the operation demonstrated strong intelligence sharing and coordination among regional partners, noting that criminals cannot escape justice by crossing borders within the region.
