The Delta State Police Command says its Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) has arrested a suspected drug distributor and recovered 21 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp in Owa-Abbi, Ukwani Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, August 9, 2026, the operation was conducted on August 8 following credible intelligence about a suspected criminal hideout.
Police identified the suspect as 56-year-old Lucky Oyiboka.
The Command said preliminary investigations indicate that Oyiboka is allegedly involved in the distribution of illicit drugs, while further investigations are underway to uncover other members of the suspected network.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations targeting criminal networks and the proliferation of illicit drugs across the state.
Police also urged residents to provide credible information on criminal activities, assuring informants that their identities would be kept confidential.
