Army Recover Ammunition, Military Items in Borno Raid

Troops of 73 Battalion under Sector 1 of ongoing military operations in Borno State have recovered ammunition and military-related items during a raid in Bulumkutu area of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC).

Security sources said that the operation was conducted at about 5:51 p.m. on April 26, following credible intelligence on the presence of suspected impostors in the area.

According to the sources, the suspects fled before the arrival of troops, resulting in no contact during the operation.

However, items recovered at the scene include 23 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, two rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition, a pair of woodland camouflage trousers, two jungle hats, a pair of desert camouflage trousers, a hunter’s trouser, a helmet, two pairs of boots, a magazine carrier, and a talisman.

The sources said the recovery of the items indicated possible activities of criminal elements impersonating security personnel in the area.

They added that troops had intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further security breaches within the area of responsibility.
