Army Debunks Viral Claims on Troops’ Feeding, Reaffirms Welfare Commitment
The Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI has dismissed recent social media reports alleging poor feeding conditions among troops in the North East, describing the claims as misleading and unrepresentative of realities in the field.
In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the command said findings from an internal review confirmed that the circulated images and narratives did not reflect the approved feeding standards and welfare provisions for personnel deployed across the theatre.
The command explained that troops are provided rations in line with established military feeding scales, with additional provisions during festive periods to boost morale. It added that the feeding system is structured and overseen by soldier-led food committees to ensure transparency and accountability.
The statement further disclosed that a personnel involved in circulating a misleading image had been identified and sanctioned in accordance with the Armed Forces Act.
Reassuring the public of its commitment to troop welfare, the command urged Nigerians to disregard unverified reports and rely on official information, stressing that misinformation undermines national security and ongoing operations in the region.Full Details. .
