Troops of the 176 Guards Battalion under the Operation MESA have arrested a suspected terrorist during a security operation in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The suspect was arrested at about 0735 hours on June 21 at a checkpoint after allegedly exhibiting suspicious behaviour and attempting to bribe troops to evade search.

A further inspection of the suspect’s mobile phone reportedly revealed photographs of him and other suspected terrorists flaunting firearms, ammunition, and large sums of cash.

Items recovered from him include three mobile phones, two black nylon bags containing a brownish powdery substance, a black side bag, a power bank, body cream, and a mini Bluetooth speaker.
