The Nigeria Police Force has said that it will soon take action against suspected criminals allegedly hiding in the Osun State Government House.

Osun State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, told journalists that the Government House enjoys certain immunities that prevent unrestricted police access.

“The Government House has its own immunity, and as the IGP has said, there are procedures we need to follow before accessing it.

“Otherwise, we could be accused of infringing on the governor’s privacy, which is a serious matter,” Ojelabi said.

He explained that the police are proceeding cautiously to avoid any form of infringement on the governor’s right to immunity.

“We are careful. We are taking our time and following due process.

“The intelligence we have is still being worked on to ensure we hit the nail on the head. Once we access the Government House, we will go straight to the point and do what needs to be done,” he added.

Ojelabi’s disclosure followed concerns raised by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, during a visit to Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 governorship election in the state.

The governor had urged the police to ensure that anyone found involved in crime is brought to justice.
